I love schedules. I thrive on consistency. We've even raised Mason to rely on this way of life.
Sometimes I don't want to do the same thing at the same time, day after day. My life feels like the movie Groundhog Day.
With no preschool and summer camps officially over, Mason wakes up every morning asking "what are we doing today?" Today was no different. I didn't want to work out for the 4th day in a row. I wanted a break. But here we are at the gym. The kids are thankfully in childcare and I just busted out 4.25 miles on the outdoor track.
This time I didn't really mind circling the track 8 times. There was a mini triathlon going on for kids, and I found myself coaching them on. I'm not sure how much they swam or how far they biked, but they had one mile of running at the end. I ran with a few of the kids and encouraged them to finish strong for their parents at the finish line. They laughed and smiled as I asked them questions to distract them. I ran at their pace and didn't leave them until I told them to sprint to the big red tent at the finish.
Those kids were badass. I can't even imagine doing a triathlon and some of them have done more than one. Wow.
