28 months ... 2 1/3 years

I can't believe its been 4 months since my last Mason update.  I guess I've been too busy chasing after him to sit down and type.

Anyways ... our monster is such a toddler.  Sometimes I'm convinced he's a 5 year old already.  He seems like a big boy but can still show me his baby side by asking for "up" (for me to carry him).  Trust me it's not like I want my baby boy to grow up quickly ... it's just happening on its own and I'm just witnessing it.

  • Mason is over 3 feet tall ... I would guess 38 inches
  • he weighs around 35 pounds
  • wears size 2-3 in clothes and size 8-8.5 in shoes
  • he still takes 1 nap (most days) for 2-3 hours and sleeps from 8:30p-6:30a IN HIS CRIB!  we are in no hurry to switch him to a big boy bed.  he hasn't asked and we're not going to offer.  his crib is by far the safest place for him to be contained/caged.
  • we started a loose form of potty training sometime in May.  he started wearing big boy undies while at home this past week.  he's had a couple of accidents while at home but for the most part will go peepee and poop on the potty, either when asked or on his own.  he wears a pull up while we are out and will always go potty during errands or while at restaurants ... sometimes multiple times during the meal to escape the high chair.  he still wears diapers during naps and at night and pees during those times which makes us believe he is still not quite ready to be completely potty trained.  we still have time and are in no hurry ... he'll let us know when he's completely ready (I hope).
  •  Mason loves going to the park, pool, gym ... basically anywhere.  He's just like his mama, always on the go.
  • he's been talking a lot more and in {almost} complete sentences.  you can actually have a conversation with him and walk away knowing what he was telling you.
  • he counts to 5 in Spanish which is ADORABLE, and knows some colors and objects in Spanish (he says amarillo - yellow, and its hysterical)
  • he counts to 22 (random I know) in English, occasionally missing "7" or "13" ... who needs those numbers anyways?
  • Mason can identify so many letters and objects and tries to sing his "ABC's"
  • he also likes to sing "Humpty Dumpty" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
  • I'm basically an obsessed/proud mama and love to tell anyone/everyone how special Mason is.  we're so blessed that he gets along with everyone.  teachers and caregivers at the gym are always complimenting us on how well-behaved and what a good helper our little guy is.
  • oh and he's still obsessed with cleaning ... loves to help with laundry, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down the table, basically any form of cleaning.
  • the boy can eat ... which is clearly impacting our grocery bills.  no complaints about his healthy appetite from me.  he's growing big and strong and needs all of those nutrients.  he drinks unsweetened, unflavored coconut milk for breakfast and after naps.  he likes bananas, apples, grapes, and most other fruits.  he can an entire cheeseburger on his own (it's impressive).  he's embraced pasta and spaghetti lately.  he loves meatballs, hummus, guacamole, turkey sausage.  he'll drink my entire smoothie if given the chance.  he still has NOT had juice or sugary candy ... I know he'll have plenty of time for that when he's a little older.
And that's about it ... Mason is a cool kid who makes me laugh all day long.  He is so wild and active which makes days with him exhausting, but I wouldn't trade it in for anything.
