I had to run today. It didn't matter that I had just run 8.25 miles on thursday, followed by 3.75 miles on friday, and 4.0 miles on saturday. it didn't matter that I took a yoga class this morning that truly kicked my butt (in a good way).
what mattered was that the stars had aligned for a perfect running afternoon. Ryan was ACTUALLY in town, Mason ACTUALLY fell asleep for his nap, and the weather was gorgeous ... sunny and 61 degrees.
Every part of me wanted me to skip the run and do it tomorrow on the treadmill ... 9 grueling miles on the treadmill, gross.
Instead I mustered up some motivation and grabbed a pack of Honey Stinger energy chews (new to me) and headed outside. I'll admit the run was not easy. I thought about stopping more than once and heading back home. Somehow I managed to keep running and convinced myself not to take a walking break until 53:30 minutes.

mile 7 - 9:21 (walked 2 minutes)
mile 8 - 9:15 (walked 2 minutes)
mile 9 - 9:24 (walked 2 minutes)
I didn't really love the chews ... they left a weird coating in my mouth and were a little too sugary/sweet for me. I never run with water so I was left extra thirsty. I'm thinking of buying a camelbak for long runs so that I have an option for water. Anyone run with one?
