Today Mason is Two Weeks old. It's amazing how different he looks today from when he was born. He went from weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces on 3/29 to 8 pounds 1 ounce on 4/10. That may not seem like a huge increase but at least he has a little more "meat" on his tiny frame.
I am happy to report that I have not gained any weight and am still losing some pounds. I'm currently down to 8 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Other than a brief walk around our neighborhood the other day I have not done any other exercise. Between breastfeeding and eating a healthy diet, I've managed to lose a couple of pounds this week.
We still have not gotten any "real" schedule with Mason and sleeping at night. Our best nights have been when he wakes up at midnight, then at 3:00-4:00am, and then again at 6:00-7:00am. I haven't succumbed to many daytime naps (I've had 1 in the past week), and am somehow dealing with the exhaustion with minimal amounts of caffeine (just a cup of coffee in the morning and 1/2 glass of iced tea occasionally during lunch).
Things will only get easier (I hope) as Mason gets older. I'm not trying to rush him along ... it's more important to enjoy the present with him than to wish for the future. From BabyCenter (2 week development):
"The only way your baby knows to communicate is by crying, but you can communicate with him through your voice and your touch. (He can now recognize your voice and pick it out among others.)
Your baby probably loves to be held, caressed, kissed, stroked, massaged, and carried. He may even make an "ah" sound when he hears your voice or sees your face, and he'll be eager to find you in a crowd."
