This morning I thought enough time had passed since Mason's delivery for me to take a walk around our neighborhood.
To be honest it had been a rough night staying up with Mason and I just needed a break. I needed a chance to escape on my own, listen to some music, and just get away, even if only for a few minutes.
I laced up my sneakers, something I had not done in what seemed like forever, and headed out the door. It felt good to be outside, getting some fresh air. I wasn't even walking super fast; just a comfortable pace. I stayed out there for 10 minutes and walked our usual pregnancy route.
Once I got home I felt way better and much more level headed. The exercise aspect, though almost non existent, never really occurred to me. But I guess before I run again there will definitely be walking involved.
Without getting into too much detail, Mason's delivery was rough on my lower body. I was advised not to do any physical activity until 6 weeks after he was born. That 10 minute walk brought much discomfort and pain for the rest of the day.
I guess I'll hold off a few days before attempting another 10 minute walk. It was a very humbling experience and makes me wonder how long it'll be until I'm running again ... Until I can race again and ultimately get another 5k PR.
