First hospital night

So I was admitted into the hospital last night around 7:30. The plan was to begin inducing me with the pitocin IV. After a bunch of wires and monitors were attached to me, I was finally ready. Staying in hospitals are never fun. The accommodations are not very comfortable for the patient or for any guest. The nurse gave me some sleeping pills to help ease me to sleep. Unfortunately they did not succeed and I tossed and turned for hours. So did Ryan on his terrible looking cot.

At this point it's 6:30 in the morning and I'm ready to start my day. I'm starving and can only have clear liquids so I'm pretty much an angry bear. I just sent Ryan out to eat something on his own. There is obviously no reason for both of us to starve. I'm pretty sure clear broth and jello will not subdue me.

The contractions have been going all night ... Fortnuately not unbearably strong (yet).

My doctor just walked in and I swear I thought he was Santa Claus. After seeing him for so many visits at the doctors office I knew him being here would help ease my nerves. He just broke my water and said I was 3-4 centimeters dilated. A little disappointing since I was hoping I had progressed a lot more throughout the night, but what can I do?

The talk around here is that things should hopefully start moving along ... Which will mean stronger contractions. To epidural or to not? We shall see.
