Well I did it ... I signed up for the Rock n Roll half marathon in Savannah, GA on November 5th. There is officially no turning back. I'm excited to run my 2nd half marathon, and even MORE excited to help Ryan train for his 1st half marathon. It'll be a lot easier training with a running buddy this time around.
We won't start training for the half marathon for another 2 months or so but figured it was a good idea to start thinking about a training schedule.
We're going to slightly modify the "Seasoned Strider" 8-week schedule from Fitness magazine (March 2009 issue) ... their schedule includes lots of hill and speed training which we may incorporate on some weeks. Most of our running routes in Charlotte have plenty of hills :)
My goal for this year's half marathon is to shave 7 minutes off my previous time and finish in just under 2 hours. If I was really ambitious I would like to finish in around 1 hour 45 minutes. We'll see though ... I might have to reconsider all of those speed work outs :)
