and I'm back!

So the big news around here is that Ryan, Honey, and I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.  We've been here a little over 1 week and love it so far.  We've already unpacked our boxes and settled in to our cozy home.  The weeks leading up to the move were not fun; when I wasn't packing up our belongings, I was saying (tearful) good byes to friends and family.  At no point was there time to work out ... OK maybe that's an exaggeration but there was definitely no desire to run or do any sort of exercise.
 
After a few days of being in Charlotte I walked over to the local YMCA and signed Ryan and myself up for memberships.  We haven't been part of a gym in a long time (since our LA Fitness days) so I was looking forward to organized classes and lots of cardio machines.  My first work out at the Y was on Friday.  I ran around the indoor track 27 times (each lap was 1/9 mile) to finish up 3 miles.  The walk to and from the gym is roughly 0.65 miles each way which makes a good warm up and cool down for indoor running days.

Today's work out was running on the treadmill for 3.15 miles in 30 minutes.  The first 10 minutes was on an incline of 0.5, then the next 10 minutes was on an incline of 1.0, finishing up the last 10 minutes back on an incline of 0.5.  Increasing the incline is no joke ... definitely makes the work out much harder (and slower).

The next few posts will have pictures of our new house, some Charlotte scenery, and some reviews on my favorite restaurants from Orlando.  Oh and hopefully a lot more posts on all of the running I've been doing.
